Terry's Thoughts February 2022
The Bible tells us, “Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their efforts. For if either fall, his companion can lift him up; but pity the one who falls without another to lift him up. Also, if two lie down together, they can keep warm; but how can one person alone keep warm? And if someone overpowers one person, two can resist him. A CORD OF THREE STRANDS IS NOT EASILY BROKEN.” (CSB, Ecclesiastes 4:9-12). In the last two weeks, this passage has taken on new meaning in my life. As most of you know by now, I required some emergency surgery that, while minor in nature (not to me), has sidelined me for a few days. What makes this passage significant just now is that the recovery period has required much needed assistance with the wound management, particularly given the location of the wound. It especially required the assistance of the best nurse around whom I have affectionally named “Dr. Greta.” Her love, affection, concern, and willingness to assist has made a tremendous difference with the healing process. In fact, without her assistance, I could see this recovery taking much longer. Obviously, the healing is occurring due primarily to prayer by folks concerned for my situation, doctors, nurses, and medication that has been prescribed to assist in this entire process. When we work together, even in difficult situations, more is accomplished. For those without the connections of a church family or an association of sister churches, there is less hope available; however, when the Body is activated, amazing things can occur. For me, this activity has provided assurance that I am loved, cared for, and a part of something very special: the WCBA. Finally, notice the last phrase in that passage: “A CORD OF THREE STRANDS IS NOT EASILY BROKEN.” The third cord represents the presence of Jesus, assisting in the support as well as the healing. I can’t think of a better combination during times of difficulty than the Lord, family, and the Body of Christ. My response is simply THANK YOU!!!! Your support has meant more than you will ever know.
While this article has been dedicated to my lovely wife and this amazing association, please don’t miss the other announcements within this newsletter concerning upcoming dates of interest to you as well as our association! Once again, know that I love you and consider it an honor to serve the best association in the state of North Carolina.
